This will be my first weekend in three weeks that I’m not going to be driving to Aspen. I’ll be headed to Copper Mountain to meet up with Cousin Ryan and Jillian. Jill flew in from Boston with some friends and will be skiing for four days.
I’m going to miss the Highland Bowl, however it will be nice to ski with family.
Rest in peace, bredren. Your determination, dedication, optimism and talent will forever impact all of us that were fortunate enough to share even the most brief amount of time with you.
While you may no longer be with us, you’ll never be forgotten.

Here’s the POV video from this past weekend at Aspen Highlands. I’m not sure about how much snow fell over the course of the weekend, just that it made the conditions amazing. Unfortunately, some of the banger runs was a bit shaky due to the mounting strap on the ContourHD being a bit sketchy and it jumping around. Hopefully I can fix that so the footage is better moving forward.
Enjoy the video, I had a great time making it.

I F*&%ING Love Aspen: Vol XXIV
Posted by: David Amirault in Freeskier, Skiing, TravelingSpent another weekend in Aspen skiing at Aspen Highlands. We had two straight pow days. Conditions were all-time. I was fortunate enough to ski around with a couple of patrollers, get first drop on some amazing terrain and have endless face-shots all weekend. Shot video and photos. I’ll get those edited up and on MMP this week.
Deep Temerity lift, sometime around 3:15.

Apres at the Ritz Carlton. Life is good.

The drive sucked, it took 6 hours to get there and 5.5 to get home. Thankfully I made it safe and sound thanks to the studded snows on the Jetta.

Highland Pizza Company knows whats up. No, I didn’t put that sticker there.

Here’s a short video from the Men’s Slopestyle Finals from the Aspen/Snowmass Open this past weekend. My boy Drew Lederer was out there shooting some runs and we slapped together this little edit for the kiddies on Freeskier.com. Unfortunately, this song was a little too graphic so we had to release a different version for the site.
Snowcial 2010 with McHammer
Posted by: David Amirault in Skiing, Traveling, Nerdery, Video, MusicThis January I had the honor of speaking at the 2010 Snowcial conference in South Lake Tahoe. Think of Snowcial as the Sundance for the Facebook generation. It’s a three day event where some of the brightest minds in social media and emerging technology get together to share ideas, throw back a few, relax and enjoy winter-sports.
It was a dream come true. I was being (professionally) recognized for all the hard work and success we’ve had online at Freeskier AND I got to share a stage with McHammer… twice.
During our off-time, I hit the slopes with Dane from Heavenly’s video department, local rippers Kyle Smaine and Ben Schmitt to shred the terrain park, do some snow-tubing and have folks do their best McHammer impersonation. Here’s the resulting video from our shenanigans.
Many thanks to David LaPlante (the organizer & head honcho for Snowcial), Heavenly Mountain, Russ Pecodero, Aimi Xistra-Rich, Dane in Heavenly’s video department, Harrah’s, Greg Wright at Freeskier, the people of South Lake Tahoe for tolerating my nonsense and last but certainly not least McHammer for being involved in such an important event of my life.
Co-Hosting Mountain Morning in Aspen
Posted by: David Amirault in Freeskier, Skiing, Video Thanks to Othello for having me on, I had a great time doing the show.
Also like to apologize to the people of Aspen for being subjected to my antics for half an hour that early in the morning. Clearly the show should have had some sort of warning.
